Adding a Red Light Bandit to your car or truck.
First, determine which cable you have. If your cable is marked RLBGM1000 or RLBGM2000, use the instructions directly below. If your cable is RLBGM3000, use the instructions in the second section.
There are 6 easy steps for connecting a Red Light Bandit to your vehicle. But first, a warning – the
Red Light Bandit will significantly improve the throttle response of your vehicle. You should not be
attempting to maneuver in tight spaces the first time you drive your vehicle. Give yourself some
running room.
Instructions for cables RLBGM1000 and RLBGM2000 are as follows:
1) Disconnect the negative battery cable. This is necessary so the ECM will learn a new idle position for the accelerator pedal when the cable is re-connected.
2) Some vehicles have a hush panel or other trim piece that will have to be removed for access to the accelerator pedal sensor. The sensor connector is located at the top of the accelerator pedal assembly.
3) Disconnect the existing harness from the accelerator pedal sensor. The following pictures show how to remove the connector located at the top of the accelerator pedal assembly.
Use a small screwdriver or similar object to push the CPA back until the latch catches the rear of the connector.
Next use the screwdriver to release the catch and slide the CPA off the rear of the connector.
Now the connector can be removed by squeezing the connector latch and pulling the connector out of the pedal assembly.
4) Now connect the harness attached to the Red Light Bandit as follows: Female connector plugs into the pedal assembly and the male connector plugs into the vehicle harness removed from the pedal assembly earlier.
5) Tuck the Red Light Bandit up under the dash where the harness wires will not get tangled with anything that moves. Secure the harness and Red Light Bandit with tie wraps.
6) Re-connect the negative battery cable. When the Ignition switch is turned on, two LEDs on the bottom of the Red Light Bandit should be green. If the LEDs do not come on, check to make sure all of the connectors are fully seated.
You are ready to go!
Once again BE CAREFUL! Give yourself some running room for the first trip.

Once again BE CAREFUL! Give yourself some running room for the first trip.
(If you are going to custom tune your car or truck then remove the bandit until after the tune then re-install it.)
